was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.
He was given a slingshot to play with out in the field.
practiced in the field, but could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged
returned home for dinner.
While walking back he saw the pet duck his grandmother.
And as an impulse, he let go a shot with the slingshot, hit the duck square in the head and killed him.
was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the woodpile, only to see that his sister was watching.
Julia had seen it all, but said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Julia, let's wash the dishes."
But she said "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen. Then she whispered to him" Remember the duck? "
So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "Sorry but I need Julia help me do the shopping"
She just smiled and said "Well, no problem because Johnny told me he wanted to help.
Julia whispered again, "Remember the duck?"
So, she went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and his sister, he finally could not stand it anymore.
confessed to his grandmother who had killed the duck.
She knelt, gave him a hug and said.
